All health starts with gut health! Gut shots are a great way to support your immune system and gut microbiome and give you some ‘get up and go’. Ingredients such as beetroot, blueberries, garlic, ginger, and turmeric are natural anti-inflammatories and are perfect to add into a daily shot.
In this ‘get up and go’ gut shot the combination of coconut water, lemon, honey, turmeric and ginger are a great combination for supporting gut health.
Ginger is great in shots as it provides us with many important nutrients including vitamin C, B5 and B6, and gives a powerful kick at the same time! Health wise it is helps alleviate gastrointestinal issues, plays a role in reducing inflammation in the body, supports the immune system, rejuvenates skin and increases energy levels. It also contains anti- microbial properties.
Coconut water is packed full of electrolytes and potassium – helping achieve that fluid balance in the body.
Lemons are abundant in vitamin C and flavonoids, both powerful antioxidants, important in preventing free radical damage to cells, supporting the immune system, for skin health, increasing iron absorption from food, weight loss and the prevention of scurvy.
Turmeric (as we have mentioned in a previous article) contains a powerful compound called Curcumin which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Honey possesses an array of plant chemicals that act as antioxidants. It also contains antibacterial and antifungal properties (in particular, raw and manuka honey – go for local honey where possible).
How to make your shots: (Makes 2 shots)
