Description
Lori Metz, LCSW, CCM-R, BC-THM, is a therapist who specializes in working with those on fertility journeys.
In addition to working with individuals and couples, Lori provides educational consults for those building their families through donor conception, and surrogacy is an author and host of the LIFE, love, insight, fertility, experiences podcast. Lori runs support groups and workshops and is a fertility advocate.
Her expertise on mental health and philosophy on how to cope with the bio-psycho-social components of a fertility journey, pursuing third-party reproduction to build your family, and understanding what goes into deciding to redefine your vision of family building helps guide those she works with. Lori encourages taking a moment to pause and gain perspective when needed, looking at situations with curiosity when possible, and focusing on communication, relationships, self-care, nurturing, and more.
Lori’s profound understanding of those providing care, needing care, and paying for care has allowed her to develop successful strategies for family-building journeys. She is currently organizing an initiative to add donor conception and adoption to the medical intake process by replacing the category “other” with donor and adoption. This change will encourage the conversation, taking the responsibility of explaining one’s conception off the person, educating others on the concept, and, most importantly, improving health outcomes while reducing unnecessary tests and costs.
Lori is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Mental Health Professional Group, RESOLVE the National Infertility Association, and the Board Certified Tele-mental Health Board.
