Description

Vitamin D deficiency is common yet an go undetected, but it is easy to investigate with this accurate laboratory finger-prick test.

Keep an eye on your vitamin D levels or see whether low vitamin D could be contributing to symptoms like low energy and muscle aches and pains. So, whether you are unsure if you are getting enough vitamin D, spend little time in the sun, or have dark skin, which makes it harder to make vitamin D, this test can help.

This is test is for you if:

  • you spend a lot of time indoors and don’t get much sun on your skin
  • you are in a higher-risk group for vitamin D deficiency e.g. you have dark skin
  • you feel like you’re getting sick frequently
  • you have more aches and pains than usual

It is also worth noting that if you are a woman in your 30s, 40s or 50s, it is important to think about vitamin D. This little wonder of a vitamin plays a central role in many body processes and is on the A-list for women during menopause too.

For fertility Vitamin D levels of 30ng/ml in the blood have been associated with higher pregnancy rates in women, as opposed to those with lower levels. Studies have found that women with normal levels of Vitamin D are four times more likely to conceive through IVF than those with low levels.

Investigations have also shown that pregnant women with higher levels of Vitamin D had higher live birth rates than those with lower levels. So whilst high levels of Vitamin D may not be increasing fertility, the evidence seems to suggest that deficiencies can be detrimental to fertility and healthy pregnancies.
